This old farmhouse built in 1923 was due for a major update. Located on the northern tip of Anderson Island, the site has a wonderful low bank waterfront on Puget Sound. The design goals were to fully modernize the house while revitalizing the historic nature of the old structure and create a strong inside-outside relationship. A previously enclosed porch is returned to its original function to create a covered outdoor living space with expansive views of the water. The porch was expanded to provide covered and open seating options. Three large folding glass walls open the main living area and master bedroom to the large covered deck which has overhead heaters for year-round use. Modern, white appliances, cabinets and walls are offset with natural wood tones, re-claimed natural wood beams and re-conditioned natural wood furnishings. The intentional balance between the old and new elements provides a comfortable and inviting space.
