The scope for the project included expanding the master suite, constructing a new covered outdoor patio and adding a 1,000 s.f. accessory dwelling unit to the existing lakefront house. This remodel opened up the design of this Lake Steilacoom home to the natural beauty that surrounds it, nestling deep into the woods and around the lake. The covered patio is usable in summer, winter, fall, and spring, with a see-through fireplace off to the side that also warms the master bedroom, allowing for versatile heating. The windows allow for sunlit living spaces and beautiful views of the waterfront, and little sitting areas scattered sporadically around the exterior give off a charming, comfortable aura. The accessory dwelling unit adds a cozy, complete separate living area. The ADU has its own covered patio with a peak-a-boo view of the lake and a separate, trellis covered patio with an outdoor fireplace which functions to shield the ADU from the nearby street.
