This Lakewood residence built in the late '50s in a particular style known as Mid-Century Modern. Made distinct by its brick walling and wooden details, as well as its blocky form and cubic structure. Over the years, this lakefront home became more dingy than sharp, and the owners were looking to refresh the original idea of the house. Modernizing it without losing its essence of the past. First, we replaced the aged wooden panels with more modern and sharp black metal, using a typical commercial strategy called Storefronting - bringing out the whiteness of the brick. We carried this same aesthetic inside for the interior remodel, opening up the floorplan for added visibility and simplicity, stripping down the shag carpet to show fresh, clean wood. The house also received a landscaping updo to match its crisp exterior, unifying the home and the lot for the next half-century.
