Initially built in 1956 as an elementary school, Newbridge Community Church purchased the property and repurposed the building as a church in 2005. As with some repurposed buildings, the spaces were imbalanced and were falling short of the growing membership demand. The church reached out to us in need of a larger sanctuary and a more efficient layout for the varied youth spaces. Our solution for them was to move the sanctuary into a larger existing space that was being used as an oversized, underutilized commons area. We were able to nearly double their service capacity and create larger, more fluid spaces for the youth by reconfiguring the layout. The addition to the building was minimal at 470 square feet. Prudent design methods prevented a significant, costly expansion while generously improving the aesthetics, feel, and flow of the church.
